Description

The Yellow Stingray is found in the warm waters of the Caribbean.  It has a pale yellow color with faded black ornate patterns on its body.  It has a venomous, serrated spine that is located where the tail meets the body.

The Yellow Stingray is a sensitive specimen and needs pristine water conditions and the proper aquarium for it to be housed.  Provide extra acclimation time for this beautiful fish.

The Yellow Stingray is very docile and can be trained to be hand fed.  Caution must still be used due to its venomous spine.  Have lots of good water movement and open swimming area on the bottom of the tank with a sandy bottom to prevent scratches on its soft skin.  The bottom substrate must be thick enough so it can bury itself under the sand when resting.  Keep with more formidable fish such as larger tangs, and less aggressive angelfish.  Puffers, Triggerfish and aggressive angels should not be housed with stingrays as they can inflict wounds in the eyes and soft skin.  Invertebrates and small fish are not safe with the stingray.

Sharks and rays will eat all foods whole so it is important to feed your shark or ray pieces of food according to what it can swallow for its size.  To ensure proper feeding use a feeding stick. Feed all meaty foods such as small fish (silversides), squid and shrimp. To insure proper nutrition and disease resistance mix the feeding with Ocean Nutrition Shark Formula.
