The Chambered Nautilus is a fascinating animal that can live up to 20 years and is honored throughout the ages. It has a beautiful specialized spiral shell used for protection. There are as many as 60-90 beige to orange tentacles jutting out of its shell. The shell is beige with brownish red striations that loop around it.
The Chambered Nautilus should only be attempted by the most advanced aquarist because of their specific requirements. Water temperatures need to be lower than normal with dim light conditions. Tanks should be designated only for this species with open swimming space.
The Nautilus prefers live food, however it can be trained to eat frozen. Feed small fish and a variety of crustaceans. Feed with feeding stick usually 1-2 times per month.
