Description
The Neon Velvet Damsel, known as the Japanese Damsel or Devil Damsel, has an all-black smooth body form with staggered neon blue streaks down its body and one vertical white band in the center with purple accents on its fins. As it matures, it gradually turns slightly brownish and will lose most of the blue accents.
The Neon Velvet Damsel is a very durable damsel. As a juvenile it is very attractive and modern looking. As it matures it can easily terrorize a whole tank. Best to keep only one per tank. Have plenty of live rock for shelter and ample swimming area in the tank. Eventually you will have to relocate the Neon Damsel into another tank to prevent stress among more peaceful fish. It is not advisable to keep the Neon Damsel in a reef tank or with invertebrates.
Despite this damsel as being very aggressive, it is a very entertaining fish to watch if kept in an isolated tank.
