The Brown Barred Grouper or Chocolate Grouper has a pale colored body with brown vertical striping throughout. The pectoral fins are elongated and used for stability when resting on rocks. The mouth is slightly pointed with a faint white stripe down it that will intensify with their mood.
The Brown Barred Grouper is a hardy grouper that does well in captivity. Provide plenty of live rock for shelter. Keep only one per tank. the Brown Barred Grouper will eat anything that will fit into their mouth including smaller fish and crustaceans.
It will greedily accept a variety of meaty foods such as silversides and frozen shrimp. Try saturating food in liquid vitamins and garlic for good fish health.
