The Flying Gurnard has a pale white and light brown molted body with large eyes and large wing like pectoral fins; when they are not in use they enable the Gurnard to crawl on the bottom along with its smaller pelvic fins.
The Flying Gurnard requires a good amount of sandy bottom space to crawl. House with peaceful tankmates in a fish only system. When alarmed or threatened the Gurnard will spread its large pectoral fins and can easily jump out of open aquariums. Transfer only using containers, nets can entangle on its barbed gills and fins.
Feed the Gurnard small meaty foods such as enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and worms. For a healthy option train them to eat Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets.
