The Long Jaw Squirrelfish has a reddish body sometime having silver to white stripes down its body with yellowing on the fins. The anal fin will be long. The mouth protrudes slightly more than its relatives but still has the trademark squirrel-like eyes.
It is a very abundant fish in deeper waters from the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Will be timid when first introduced then will establish a territory and may protect it. Provide plenty of good hiding places and good water movement. Can be kept in small groups in larger tanks. Will eat smaller fish and invertebrates.
They well eat a wide variety of meaty foods including frozen shrimp and chopped squid. Train your Squirrelfish to eat Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets on a regular basis for adequate nutrition.
