The Clown Tang or Lined Surgeonfish has lateral blue and orange lines down its body and blue and black edging around the fins.
The Clown Tang needs an expert hand and is not for the beginner. These fish require top notch water conditions and well oxygenated water and plenty of swimming room. Keep only one per tank; the Clown Tangs are rather aggressive as they mature so include with hardy tank mates. They will grow large and are best kept in larger more elaborate systems.
Have plenty of live rock in your tank. Tangs will graze on the live rock and it will provide necessary hiding areas and swim pass-throughs.
Tangs will eat just about all fish foods; Ocean Nutrition Pellets are a perfect diet. Feed tangs with plenty of marine-based seaweed, as this will keep them healthy. Try putting seaweed on a veggie clip, or break into small pieces and feed 2-3 times per week. Ocean Nutrition Seaweed contains garlic which helps the immune system in these colorful fish.
